We've got an allotment!

Rob called!

Sat 16th March and I received a voicemail from Rob, the allotment controller. We've got an allotment!

1st day! Part one

Sunday 17th March. Turn up to meet Rob to take a look at a few plots. Rob is really friendly and helpful and recommends a plot that is not too overgrown.

Got introduced to Martin who took the time to talk to me about how he had developed his own plots, and then proceeded to give me some tips about how I should tackle mine. Emily was shy around Martin to begin with, but soon came out of her shell! She loved running up and down Martin's path, and putting her hand in his raised beds to play around with the dirt.

Upon leaving Rob gave me a shovel and a fork. I was overwhelmed by his generosity  Didn't know what to say (managed a thank you). They must cost at least £20 each.

1st day! Part two

Went back in the afternoon, all fired up to get some digging done. But before I could get stuck in I was in Martin's shed with Martin, Rob and Wayne drinking coffee and enjoying some good allotment banter. It wasn't long before Leander arrived with the girls and Gill (Leander's mum). They all loved the plot, the girls especially so. Seren and Emily enjoyed picking up earth and throwing it around. Monkies! Before long they had all left, and it was just me, my fork and my shovel....

Digging is hard!! Started with some skimming on a part of my plot measuring about 6 feet by 10 feet. Then went to work on any visible weeds with the shovel, and finally got the fork out to turn some earth over. All in all happy with first days work!
